Sugar mill lubrication solution to protect bushes and gears

Sugar production equipment works hard and requires adequate lubrication and maintenance to ensure it remains functional. Lubrication Engineers (LE) South Africa suggests replacing asphaltic lubricants with a more modern product to provide optimum lubrication in bronze bushings and heavily loaded open and enclosed gears operating at slow and high speeds.

LE’s Power Press Oil (366) is a semi-synthetic formula specifically designed for the sugar Industry,” says Callum Ford, National Marketing Manager at LE South Africa. “It’s biodegradable and free of solvents, lead, chlorine or barium, making it suitable for food production uses, and is specifically designed for sugar production machinery to increase reliability of critical assets and decrease lubricant and energy usage.”

Power Press Oil is formulated with semi-synthetic base oil and includes antioxidant, anti-corrosive, anti-wear, and EP additives. It reduces friction and noise level and is highly hydro-repellent and adhesive, ensuring the lubricant remains in the mechanism. This allows for a uniform, smooth, long-lasting lubrication.

“Power Press Oil is 100% compatible with other lubricants and is ideal for centralised automatic lubrication systems, as well as bath and drip lubrication,” says Ford. “It serves several purposes, from protecting bushes and gear from wear to reducing friction and heat, protecting against heavy loads at both slow and high operating speeds, providing a seal to protect from contaminants and resisting water to protect against rust and corrosion.”

The product also decreases lubricant consumption by up to 80% as compared to outdated asphaltic products, and lowers overall lubrication disposal and handling costs. In use, it is transparent, allowing for easy inspection of gear teeth surfaces.
